Steve Fennelly Appointed As REACH Foundation of Orange County’s Chairman of Board of Directors

Sure Haven is delighted to announce that on January 25, 2012, Steve Fennelly, our CEO and co-founder, was formally appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of The REACH Foundation of Orange County. The REACH Foundation is a nonprofit based organization committed to assisting in finding addiction treatment for anyone, regardless of their financial situation. They accomplish this mission through partnering with treatment providers in the community who are willing to provide financial scholarships to their facilities as a way to extend the opportunity for recovery help to those who don’t necessarily have the means to afford it otherwise.

Steve is extremely excited to take on this role at REACH, as he comes to the Foundation with a rare and unique recovery background. He moved to California several years ago to begin his own recovery from intense drug addiction, and to reestablish wounded familial relationships. The strong and nurturing recovery foundation and community of Orange County provided Steve with exactly the structure and backbone he needed to change his life for the better. After struggling with relapse for six years, Steve made the commitment to change in sobriety, and through his process of recovery developed a vision of providing treatment facilities that focused on individual attention, family-like support, and emphasis on a return to community involvement – all things that truly helped him in his own personal experience. His vision became the reality we know today as Sure Haven.

Steve and REACH are jointly thrilled about this partnership and the opportunities it presents for the future. According to Steve, “I am proud to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading The REACH Foundation in providing a last line of defense for alcoholics and addicts in Orange County. As active and concerned members of our respective recovery communities, we must ensure that those struggling with addiction are not lost for want of the necessary funds and support to have a fighting chance in the battle against alcohol and drugs. The core mission of the REACH scholarship program is to guarantee that those committed to recovery, and meeting the criteria of the scholarship program, are able to find a bed in a qualified addiction treatment facility within a few hours after applying. As Chairman of the Board of Directors, it is my mission and hope to not only expand our donor base, but to increase the number of treatment and sober living facilities in our Network of Hope, in anticipation that, one day, no one struggling with addiction and wanted to make a commitment to recovery will be left ignored or untreated due to lack of financial means.”
