Family Resources and Support

There are ways to help the addict reach rock bottom without hurting them.

The reach of alcoholism and drug addiction goes far beyond the individual. Addiction is a family disease.

Family members are strongly encouraged to participate in their loved one’s recovery. They are the most critical element in creating a successful outcome. Addiction adversely affects the entire family and can render it completely dysfunctional, adding to the addicts feeling of alienation and despair.

The Sure Haven staff is blessed to lend its experience, strength and hope to help family members understand the impact of addition on their lives. Often, the family recognizes the problem before the addict is ready to acknowledge or deal with it. In these difficult situations, it is sometimes necessary for a certified interventionist to assist.

We recommend that family members attend counseling or educational sessions to help them deal with the impact of a loved one’s addiction. Chances for recovery increase dramatically when families are involved.

Because addiction has such a strong effect on the family of an addict, it is important for families to receive their own support and build their own network of people to reach out to in difficult times. Sure Haven is happy to assist our families in finding these resources and helping the family heal as a unit.

When a family thinks they are ready to help get their loved one into treatment, Sure Haven helps with what to do next. There are ways to help the addict reach rock bottom without hurting them. We help alleviate family stress by facilitating interventions, designing individualized and intensive inpatient or outpatient treatment strategies based on what is best for the addict and the family, and arranging aftercare programs led by skilled, caring professionals.

Sure Haven allows families to find freedom from the destructive patterns of addiction.
