Vocation Transitional Program

Some women at Sure Haven have already paved their professional path and just need help getting back on track. Some have no idea where to start. Whether our clients are best suited for teaching, accounting, hair-dressing, the food and beverage industry, fitness and nutrition training, or marketing, we’re equipped to assist from resumes to coordinating transportation to interviews. We do everything possible to lay a solid foundation for success.

Q. How is the right vocation determined?

A. While in residential treatment, the Vocational Case Manager will meet with the client to conduct a Vocational Readiness Assessment. This includes a summary of job history, employment achievements, special skills and certifications.

Q. What kind of assistance is provided for the job search?

A. Once a Vocational Case Plan is developed, the case manager assists with resume writing, job interview skill training, time management, effective work search strategies, management of job application submissions, and transportation to and from interviews.

Q. What kind of help is given for resume writing and interview preparation?

A. The vocational case manager does a complete assessment of the current, if applicable, resume. The resume is crafted between the vocational case manager and the client so that the client has the skill of resume development for future use. In terms of interview preparation, there is a strong emphasis on mock interviews. Body language and answers are critiqued and common pitfall mistakes during interviews are worked through.

Q. What happens once a job is found?

A. Individual sessions happen as needed, but generally not less than twice weekly once employment has begun.

Q. How long is the program?

A. The duration of the Vocational Services Program is 90 days to six months depending on individualized client need.
